Meet Taylor!

Oh, hey! Taylor here. I'm back at The Couch after an amazing internship experience and wanted to share a few things about myself.

If you're more of an auditory/visual person, scroll down to watch my "meet your therapist" video. In it, we answer lots of questions about life, therapy, and everything in between.

What populations do you work with?

The short answer: anyone. In the past I've had a lot of people with different backgrounds come to therapy with me, and I've enjoyed working with every single person. So if you're considering therapy, don't let the "specializations" scare you off. I'm a big believer in the idea that vibing with your therapist's personality and style is the most important thing to look for. I learn from each and every one of my clients and intend to keep doing that throughout my career.

However, I do have a few areas of specialization, including: couples, people dealing with relationship issues, men dealing with self-worth, perfectionism, and anxiety, and women in all stages of motherhood (fertility challenges, loss, pregnancy, and postpartum). I'm Gottman Level 1 trained (currently working on Level 2) and have a certificate in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders from Postpartum Support International.

What are you like as a therapist?

Again, this depends on my client. In general, I take a fairly direct approach to counseling – meaning that I'm not afraid to point out the things I'm hearing and seeing if I think they'll be beneficial for you to hear. Everything I do is based on what you (my client) needs. The things that remain consistent in my therapy space are warmth, support, curiosity, and honesty. Above all else, I want you to feel safe and seen. Going to therapy and doing the work isn't easy and takes a lot of bravery. Know that I'll be with you through it all.

If you have any questions about working with me, feel free to reach out to info@thecouchtherapy.org or schedule a free 15-minute consultation.

Just a quick PS - these consultations are truly your time to get to see if we're a good fit. If we're not (which is totally cool!), my goal is to get you with someone who will be a good fit. We're a collaborative practice who prioritize our clients first and foremost. Trust me, you'll be in good hands.

<3 Taylor
