Ally Doke, Graduate Student, (Supervised by Emily Morehead, LPC-S)
I am passionate about working with individuals and couples on issues such as low self-worth, communication differences, emotional dysregulation, perfectionism, and identity exploration during life transitions. I welcome all people, including those who are neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and in non-traditional relationships.
I believe that all people are of equal, intrinsic value. Throughout our lives, we learn to hide or change parts of ourselves to survive because we have not yet realized our inherent worth as a person. I also believe that at any moment, each of us is doing the best we can with the tools that we have. We aren’t born knowing everything we need to know to get through life, but we are born with the capacity to learn and apply what we know creatively.
In our work together, you can always expect me to have unconditional belief in your inherent worth as a human and your potential for positive growth. We will work as a team to work towards the goals that you set, often beginning with shifting from rules that restrict you to using self-compassion to understand how things came to be. My role as your counselor is to guide you as you gain awareness and acceptance of your experiences, past and present. By learning through new experiences in an environment that invites you to be who you are without conditions, I hope to help you become the author of your life.
